Rate Howl
You are Jerome Howl, Chair of the Federal Reserve of the Pack. Each month something happens. Raise, cut or hold the policy rate by 0.25 points, then watch inflation, unemployment, the market and the pack's mood react. Survive 12 months without letting inflation escape, breaking the economy or causing market chaos. Aim: inflation near 2%, unemployment near 4.5%, market near 100.

The model is deliberately simple: higher rates cool demand, lower unemployment-driven price pressure and dampen markets, with supply shocks pushing prices regardless. Real central banks weigh far more. Back to the main file · Briefing Room
